Safaricom (KCL) launched Ziidi Trader, enabling M-Pesa users to buy shares directly on the Nairobi Securities Exchange without a brokerage account. The service went live on February 10, 2026, with an average 40% share of NSE trades since Monday, representing 5% of daily volume. Ziidi Trader will operate in partnership with Kestrel Capital, and initial use is limited to Kenya, with no expansion plans announced. The NSE is targeting 9 million active retail investors by year-end 2026. The move aligns with broader efforts to expand retail participation in Kenyan capital markets.
