Nissan Posts 9-Month Loss Amid Sales Decline; Earnings Outlook for 2026

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (N-7000) reported a net loss of ¥1.2 billion for the nine months ended December 2025, down from a profit of ¥16.7 billion in the same period of 2024. The decline reflects soft global auto demand and ongoing supply chain disruptions. The company revised its full-year 2026 guidance to a loss range of ¥25-35 billion, down from a ¥30 billion profit forecast in 2025. Key factors include a 14% year-over-year drop in North America sales and a 22% decline in Europe. Nissan attributed the performance to continued weakness in the U.S. and European markets and the impact of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle strategy on short-term profitability.
