Statkraft Signs Long-Term Power Deals with Alcoa (AA) for Norwegian Smelters
Norwegian state-owned power company Statkraft signed long-term power agreements with U.S. aluminum producer Alcoa (AA) on June 18, 2026. The deals secure renewable electricity for Alcoa's three Norwegian aluminum smelters, ensuring their continued operation and competitive energy supply. The agreements are effective from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2036, covering the Mosjøen, Lista, and Farsund facilities. They provide Alcoa with 3.6 terawatt-hours (TWh) of power annually, representing a significant portion of the company's energy needs in Norway. Alcoa is Norway's largest industrial power consumer, making these agreements critical for the long-term viability and decarbonization efforts of its Norwegian operations.
