Apple (AAPL-US) Prepares Second-Gen iPhone Air for Spring 2027 Launch

Apple (AAPL-US) is reportedly preparing to launch a second-generation iPhone Air in Spring 2027, aiming to enhance the ultra-thin model's market appeal. The new device, internally codenamed V62, is in advanced testing and will feature a dual rear camera system with ultra-wide capabilities, addressing a key consumer pain point. Sources indicate the updated iPhone Air will maintain its thin design while improving battery life, though the method (larger battery versus efficiency) remains unclear. The current iPhone Air, launched in September 2025 at $999, is part of Apple's strategy to expand its $210 billion iPhone business. This launch aligns with Apple's new staggered release cadence, which will see high-end iPhones in the fall and standard models, including the upgraded Air, approximately six months later. The new Air is expected to feature the A20 Pro processor. Apple declined to comment on the report.
