Apple cuts iPhone 17 Pro prices in China as JD.com offers subsidies
Apple Inc. (AAPL) cut prices for its iPhone 17 Pro lineup in China at midnight on May 15, 2026, lowering prices by 1,000 yuan across the series, according to Chinese media reports. JD.com’s self-operated Apple flagship store adjusted prices immediately, offering combined direct discounts and trade-in subsidies of as much as 2,000 yuan. The iPhone 17 Pro’s effective price fell to 6,999 yuan, while the standard iPhone 17 dropped for the first time since launch, with trade-in offers bringing the price to 4,499 yuan. Chengdu Daily reported the iPhone 17 Pro reached its lowest price on record in China. The cuts come ahead of the 618 shopping festival and follow price increases of 200 yuan to 600 yuan for some rival flagship phones this year, driven by higher costs for memory and other key components. Analysts said Apple’s broader price reductions could help stimulate a new sales cycle in China.
