Apple's App Store Drove $1.4 Trillion in Sales in 2025, AI Seen Boosting Growth
Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) App Store facilitated an estimated $1.4 trillion in sales in 2025, doubling economic activity since 2019, according to a study commissioned by the company and conducted by Analysis Group released on June 5, 2026. Digital goods and services transactions surged 2.4-fold, physical goods and services rose 2.8-fold, and in-app advertising revenue jumped 2.9-fold. China accounted for the largest share at $562 billion, followed by the U.S. at $453 billion, Europe at $184 billion, and Japan at $52 billion. Apple collected commissions on less than 10% of the total billings, the report said. The services segment, which includes App Store revenue, generated $109.1 billion in fiscal 2025 — about a quarter of Apple's total revenue — second only to iPhone sales of $209.5 billion. The report comes as Apple prepares to showcase an AI-enhanced Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8. Goldman Sachs noted AI could further boost services revenue by spurring a new wave of app development.
