AbbVie Wins EU Approval for RINVOQ in Pediatric Juvenile Arthritis

AbbVie (ABBV) said the European Commission approved RINVOQ for treating active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children aged two years and older who responded inadequately to, or are intolerant of, one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, the company announced on September 22, 2026. The decision expands the JAK inhibitor's label in the European Union to a pediatric population, adding to its existing approvals in adults with inflammatory conditions including rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Financial terms and pricing were not disclosed. The approval follows the company's broader strategy of extending RINVOQ's indications to offset declining sales of its flagship arthritis drug Humira, which faces biosimilar competition in Europe.
