Andreessen Horowitz Launches Tuition-Free AI Academy for Teens in San Francisco

Andreessen Horowitz announced Tuesday the Horowitz Andreessen Academy, a tuition-free, in-person San Francisco school for recent high school graduates seeking to build technology products in the AI era. The venture firm has raised $42 million for the program, led by itself. The academy will admit roughly 50 students for its first class in Fall 2027, basing admissions on proof of work rather than traditional credentials. Ten founding partners — including Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI, and Stripe — will offer co-op placements, compute access, and curriculum input. Fellows receive over $50,000 in compute credits and a $5,000 travel budget. The one-year program is not currently accredited, meaning students earn no degree or transferable credits. The academy intends to seek approval for a two-year program launching Fall 2028, which would charge tuition comparable to an elite private university.
