Wall Street AI Hiring Jumps 49% as Demand for Agent Orchestration Skills Surges
AI-related job postings at major banks including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Capital One rose 49% year over year to 139,819 listings, according to hiring analytics firm Draup. Demand is concentrated on AI agent skills, with postings citing agent orchestration up 1,721%. Supporting technologies also posted steep gains: LangGraph mentions rose 679%, LlamaIndex 291% and retrieval-augmented generation 259%. Banks are pairing technical hiring with governance buildout, as "responsible AI" references climbed 657%, AI governance 394% and risk management 359%. Governance-related skill mentions now exceed 16,000, roughly double the 8,400 postings focused on building and maintaining models. Draup CEO Vijay Swaminathan said the roles require both engineering proficiency and domain knowledge. Generative AI managers earn a median base salary of about $190,000, and banks are expanding internal reskilling programs as AI absorbs more work.
