Nvidia to Spend $150B Annually in Taiwan, AMD Commits $10B, as AI Infrastructure Role Surges Ahead of Computex
Nvidia (NVDA) will invest up to $150 billion annually in Taiwan, CEO Jensen Huang said on May 27, calling the island the “epicentre of the AI revolution” days before the Computex trade show. AMD (AMD) has also pledged more than $10 billion to expand AI capacity in Taiwan, co-investing with local partners for 2026 and beyond. The commitments underscore Taiwan’s shift from semiconductor manufacturing to full AI systems integration, as demand grows for powered, cooled and networked data centre solutions. Taiwan’s server exports surged to $60 billion in 2025 from $571 million in 2017. Computex runs June 2–5 in Taipei with a keynote from Intel (INTC) CEO Lip-Bu Tan and appearances by executives from Qualcomm, Arm and others. AI data centre products, including Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform, will dominate. Despite heightened geopolitical tensions, investment in Taiwan’s AI infrastructure is accelerating.
