Sen. Sanders Proposes $7 Trillion AI Sovereign Wealth Fund

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has proposed legislation to create a sovereign wealth fund, aiming to transfer wealth and power from the artificial intelligence industry to the American public. The fund would be financed by a one-time 50% tax on the stock of the largest AI companies. Sanders estimates the tax could generate nearly $7 trillion for the fund. This capital would then yield hundreds of billions of dollars annually, intended for direct payments to Americans and to support programs in healthcare, education, and housing. The proposed fund would be overseen by an independent commission.
