World Model Startups AMI Labs, World Labs Keep Product Plans Secret as Funding Flows

World model developers AMI Labs and World Labs are withholding product and commercialization details despite heavy funding, reflecting a sector-wide culture of secrecy that extends to their own data suppliers. Michael Rabbat, co-founder and VP of World Models at AMI Labs, declined to specify what the company is building, saying by email, "We're still in a research and building phase, so we're not talking publicly about any product plans or timeline." World Labs' Marble platform, among the field's most developed offerings, remains oriented toward capability demonstrations spanning media creation, game environments, and CGI, with robotics use cases still emerging. Alex de Vigan, CEO of data supplier Physicl, said he remains uninformed about how clients apply his data, limiting his ability to tailor it. World models automate spatial intelligence, with potential applications in robotics, interactive video, and autonomous driving. The secrecy, driven by easy fundraising and fear of inviting rivals, delays competitive pressure but leaves commercialization timelines unclear.
