Aligos (ALGS) Reveals Positive Phase 2 Data for Pevifoscovir Sodium in Hepatitis B

Aligos Therapeutics (NASDAQ: ALGS) announced on May 27, 2026 that its lead drug candidate pevifoscovir sodium achieved statistically significant antiviral activity in a Phase 2 trial for chronic hepatitis B. The oral small molecule demonstrated a mean reduction in HBV DNA of 2.5 log10 and a 0.7 log10 decline in hepatitis B surface antigen after 12 weeks, with no safety signals observed. The results support the candidate’s potential as a functional cure when combined with other agents. Aligos expects to engage with regulators in the second half of 2026 to design a Phase 3 study.
