Alaska Airlines said on September 30, 2026, it plans to join American Airlines' Atlantic and Pacific Joint Businesses, pending antitrust immunity from the U.S. Department of Transportation and other international regulators. The arrangements let partners coordinate schedules, align pricing on select routes and share revenue. The Atlantic Joint Business, formed in 2010, includes American, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Aer Lingus and LEVEL; the Pacific venture includes American and Japan Airlines. Filings will be submitted over coming months. The move follows Alaska Air Group's September 29 Investor Day in Seattle, where it unveiled lie-flat suites, a premium-economy cabin and new lounges, and set a target of at least 15 intercontinental destinations from Seattle by 2030, up from seven. Bloomberg reported the carriers had discussed revenue-sharing since at least April; a merger idea did not advance. Alaska Air Group trades on the NYSE as ALK; American Airlines Group trades on Nasdaq as AAL.
