Applied Materials, Kioxia Partner at EPIC Center to Develop Next-Gen Memory Technology
Applied Materials (AMAT) announced on September 30, 2026, that Kioxia Corporation will join its Silicon Valley Equipment and Process Innovation and Commercialization (EPIC) Center as a partner to co-develop next-generation memory technology. The two companies will collaborate on advanced memory cells and structures, multi-chip stacking architectures, and new materials engineering to boost memory density and performance for the AI era. Applied Materials CEO Gary Dickerson said AI infrastructure demands memory with higher density, greater bandwidth and better energy efficiency. Kioxia CEO Hiroo Ota said the partnership reflects both firms' commitment to pushing memory innovation boundaries. Focus areas include advanced memory cells and structures, next-generation multi-chip stacking, advanced packaging for stacked memory, and materials engineering. Prabu Raja, president of Applied Materials' semiconductor products group, said memory sits at the core of AI innovation.
