AMD Shares Surge 10%, On Track to Close Above $1 Trillion Market Value for First Time

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. shares jumped as much as 10% on Monday, September 21, 2026, putting the chipmaker on course to close above $1 trillion in market value for the first time, joining Nvidia, Broadcom, Micron and TSMC in the trillion-dollar tier. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose more than 4%, its fifth straight session of gains. Intel climbed as much as 12% and Arm Holdings gained as much as 14%. Meta Platforms rose over 7% after its Muse AI Agent topped Apple's App Store free rankings, reigniting demand optimism for CPUs powering agentic AI. AMD has gained roughly 30% in September, its best month since May, after falling nearly 26% from its June peak to July trough. Meta is AMD's second-largest customer at about 5.5% of revenue. Jefferies analyst Jacky He said broader AI agent adoption should lift server CPU demand from higher inference and orchestration workloads.
