On Monday, June 2, 2026, Amazon (AMZN) announced its annual Prime Day sales event will run from June 23 to June 26, shifting earlier than its typical July slot for the first time since 2021. “Stating it bluntly, more savings now is better than savings later,” said Jamil Ghani, Amazon’s vice president of Prime, citing strained consumer budgets from higher fuel costs. Analysts noted the revised timing also avoids the July 4th holiday weekend, when the U.S. marks the 250th anniversary of its independence. Telsey Advisory Group’s Joe Feldman said the company likely aims to boost second-quarter sales by front-loading the event. Amazon did not disclose year-over-year growth for last year’s “biggest” Prime Day. Deals will span LG appliances to everyday consumables like diapers and wipes. While April retail sales rose 0.5%, Forrester analyst Sucharita Kodali cautioned that persistent economic uncertainty could limit consumer spending even with deep discounts.
