Amazon Launches Standard Ocean Express Rail Service From Los Angeles to East Coast

Amazon (AMZN) announced on Sept. 11, 2026, the launch of Standard Ocean Express, a logistics service routing seller inventory through the Port of Los Angeles with direct rail to East Coast fulfillment centers, the company said. The service is part of Amazon Global Logistics and is limited to Seller Managed Placement bookings. Amazon said the option improves transit times versus standard routing, reducing out-of-stock risk during peak demand and accelerating product availability for East Coast customers. Pricing was not disclosed. The launch expands Amazon's push to sell logistics capabilities to businesses beyond its own marketplace, following this year's debut of Amazon Supply Chain Services, which bundles global freight, trucking, parcel shipping and bulk storage. Competitors are also expanding out of Los Angeles. BNSF Railway launched expedited rail service from Los Angeles to Houston in 2025 and partnered with CSX for intermodal routes to the eastern U.S.
