Kuehne+Nagel Signs Long-Term Amazon, AWS Logistics Deal; Shares Rise 5.2%
Kuehne+Nagel (SIX: KNIN) announced a long-term logistics collaboration with Amazon on September 21, 2026, covering the infrastructure lifecycle of Amazon Web Services, including construction, equipment deployment, maintenance, upgrades and expansion. Shares of the Swiss freight forwarder rose as much as 5.2% on the news. Amazon holds a call option on existing Kuehne+Nagel shares, exercisable in cash or stock, vesting over as many as seven years contingent on commercial milestones. Kuehne+Nagel said it engaged an outside financial institution for related share-hedging activity. Vontobel analysts said the deal should strengthen Kuehne+Nagel's position in data center infrastructure logistics. The Zurich-listed company employs about 88,000 people across more than 1,300 sites in nearly 100 countries. The agreement follows the death of controlling shareholder Klaus-Michael Kuehne and comes as U.S. authorities investigate Kuehne+Nagel unit Apex Logistics over alleged smuggling of Nvidia AI chips to China. Apex said it is cooperating; Kuehne+Nagel said it has not been contacted.
