The U.S. Postal Service and Amazon launched a same-day delivery pilot on September 29, 2026, at sorting and delivery centers in Morgantown, West Virginia, and Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Packages arriving between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. local time will be sorted and delivered by city carriers between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. the same day. Each site is capped at 200 packages and three delivery routes, with no set end date, according to a National Association of Letter Carriers memo. The pilot is scheduled to expand on October 20 to Columbia, South Carolina, with a 500-package cap and five routes. Amazon spokesperson Terrence Clark said the additional afternoon drop expands same-day eligibility for later orders. Amazon has spent over $5 billion with USPS in recent years, a key revenue source for the financially ailing agency. USPS did not comment.
