Avaí Bio, Austrianova Encapsulate GMP Klotho Cells; AVAI Shares Rise 8%

Avaí Bio (AVAI) and joint venture partner Austrianova announced on September 30, 2026, the successful encapsulation of GMP-quality Klotho-producing cells using Austrianova's Cell-in-a-Box technology. AVAI shares rose 8.00% to $0.13 following the disclosure. Initial studies showed the encapsulated cells remained viable and secreted high levels of Klotho protein into surrounding culture media. The milestone follows adventitious agent and viral testing of Avaí Bio's GMP Master Cell Bank, from which a Working Cell Bank was recently established. The Klotho program, developed by Nevada-based joint venture Klothonova, will advance to capsule expansion and optimization studies evaluating growth characteristics, long-term functionality, and production performance. AVAI has traded between $0.10 and $0.80 over the past year.
