Boeing Wins Over $20 Billion Navy Contract for F/A-XX Fighter
Boeing (BA) said after the closing bell on September 29, 2026, that it won a multi-billion-dollar Department of Defense contract to build the F/A-XX, a next-generation fighter for the U.S. Navy. The Pentagon valued the deal at more than $20 billion, with the aircraft to begin replacing F/A-18 Super Hornets in the 2030s. Boeing shares rose less than 1% on September 30, recovering part of recent losses. The stock remains down about 13% this year after sliding over the past two months, pressured by a software bug found in 737 MAX planes and the FAA's decision to delay certification of the 737 MAX 10 pending an investigation. Morgan Stanley analysts called the pullback a "tactical buying opportunity" ahead of a key union vote, provided Boeing avoids a strike and no further negative developments emerge.
