Turkish Airlines Orders 150 Boeing 737 MAX Jets, With Option for 50 More

Turkish Airlines said it will purchase 150 Boeing aircraft, comprising a firm order for 100 737 MAX jets and an option for 50 additional planes, the national carrier announced on September 24, 2026. The deal was disclosed while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in New York, a day after meeting U.S. President Donald Trump alongside Middle Eastern leaders during the UN General Assembly. Trump called it "a big day for Boeing and American manufacturing" on Truth Social, saying the sales would total tens of billions of dollars and support tens of thousands of U.S. jobs. He also cited Bangladesh's plans to buy more Boeing planes. The order comes nearly a year after Turkish Airlines agreed to buy another 225 Boeing jets following White House talks between Erdogan and Trump. The Istanbul Airport-based carrier operates a 514-aircraft fleet, serves over 130 countries and carried 92.6 million passengers in 2025.
