Alibaba Unveils Zhenwu V900 AI Chip, Targets 20GW Data Center Capacity by 2032

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE: BABA, HKEX: 9988) unveiled its Zhenwu V900 AI accelerator, claiming triple the performance of its predecessor, as the company targets 20 gigawatts of data center capacity by 2032 to meet "exponentially rising" AI demand. CEO Eddie Wu said the T-Head division chip can be deployed in clusters of up to 500,000 units for frontier-model training. Alibaba has committed over $53 billion to AI expansion over three years and raised approximately $10.2 billion from an August Hong Kong share offering. The company also plans to list its T-Head chip design unit and develop a model with 5 to 10 trillion parameters. The announcement came on Monday, ahead of a Trump-Xi summit where AI policy is expected to feature prominently.
