Build-A-Bear Workshop (BBW) First-Quarter Profit Climbs 19%, Lifts Full-Year Earnings Target

Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. (BBW) reported a 19% increase in fiscal first-quarter net income on May 28, 2026, driven by steady customer traffic and margin gains, and raised its full-year earnings outlook. Net income for the quarter ended April 30, 2026 rose to $11.2 million, or $0.72 per diluted share, from $9.4 million, or $0.60 per share, a year earlier. Revenue advanced 4.2% to $124.5 million, exceeding the $122 million consensus estimate. Comparable sales grew 3.8%, reflecting higher conversion rates both in stores and online. Gross margin expanded 120 basis points to 52.4% as supply chain costs eased. The St. Louis-based company now expects full-year adjusted earnings of $2.10 to $2.30 per share, up from a prior range of $1.90 to $2.15. Shares of BBW, which have gained 18% over the past 12 months, were up 2.3% in pre-market trading.
