Research tools and consumables stocks delivered mixed first-quarter results, with aggregate revenue surpassing analyst forecasts by 1.4% and share prices averaging a 10.4% gain since the reports, according to a June 1, 2026, review. Revvity (NYSE:RVTY) recorded the weakest performance, missing estimates and providing disappointing full-year guidance, while Waters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) led the group with the strongest beat. Revvity’s revenue rose 9.3% year-over-year to $686.9 million but fell 2.6% short of consensus, and its full-year EPS and revenue outlook trailed expectations. In contrast, Waters’ revenue surged 91.5% to $1.27 billion, exceeding estimates by 5.3%, fueled by robust demand for its analytical instruments. Bio-Techne (NASDAQ:TECH) saw revenue slip 1.5% to $311.4 million, missing forecasts. Bruker (NASDAQ:BRKR) and Avantor (NYSE:AVTR) both beat revenue projections, with Bruker posting 2.7% growth to $823.4 million and Avantor reporting flat revenue of $1.58 billion. The sector relies on recurring consumable sales but remains exposed to research funding cycles and macroeconomic headwinds.
