Nexo Study Finds Two-Thirds of Affluent Investors Own Crypto, Few Integrate It Into Long-Term Portfolios

Roughly two-thirds of affluent investors own cryptocurrency, but few have woven digital assets into broader financial plans, according to Nexo's "Future of Digital Wealth 2026" report published Sept. 23, 2026. The survey of 1,000 investors in the U.S., U.K. and Argentina found an average Crypto Integration Index score of 4.83 out of 10, with only 4.7% reaching the 7-plus threshold marking deep integration. The index weighs allocation size, holding horizon, retirement integration, substitution from traditional assets and risk perception. While nearly 20% of respondents expect crypto to become their top wealth driver within a decade, more than 40% hold digital assets without having built wealth from them. Argentina posted the highest ownership rate at 74% but the lowest average integration score at 4.62, versus 5.07 in the U.S. and 4.75 in the U.K. Among integrated investors, 36% cited security concerns, 34% high fees and 28% platform complexity. Nexo has a commercial interest in crypto adoption; the sample is not representative of the general population.
