Cisco Launches Live Protect to Counter AI-Driven Exploits (CSCO)
Cisco Systems (CSCO) on Tuesday introduced Live Protect, a cybersecurity platform that lets network defenders instantly deploy targeted shields against vulnerabilities uncovered by advanced AI, without system downtime. The launch responds to Anthropic’s (ANTH.PVT) Claude Mythos Preview, which last month demonstrated a startling capacity to find thousands of software flaws in major browsers and operating systems far faster than human patching can address. Live Protect runs on Cisco hardware, allowing security professionals to toggle on temporary protections while networks continue operating. Cisco infrastructure and security head Tom Gillis compared the approach to fixing an engine failure on a racecar going 200 km/hour. Unlike traditional quarterly patching cycles, the platform closes the critical window between AI-driven vulnerability discovery and permanent remediation. The service represents a stopgap defense as the industry scrambles to manage the accelerating threat landscape fueled by powerful AI models. Cisco plans to embed Live Protect across its security portfolio to help enterprises reduce exposure to rapidly emerging exploits.
