CoStar to Acquire Zonda in $800M All-Cash Deal to Expand Housing Data (CSGP)
CoStar Group (CSGP) agreed to acquire real estate data and analytics firm Zonda for $800 million in cash, the company said May 29, 2026, in a deal expected to close in H2 2026. The purchase adds proprietary lot-level housing data serving over 3,000 customers, including major homebuilders Lennar and Toll Brothers, to CoStar’s portfolio. Zonda’s core database tracks development activity, home sales, and builder operations. It also operates online new home marketplaces NewHomeSource and Livabl. Most of its revenue comes from subscriptions, and the business holds a 104% net retention rate. CoStar said Zonda’s visualization products will pair with its Matterport spatial technology unit, acquired in 2025. The acquisition bolsters CoStar’s commercial and residential lines after the company faced activist pressure from Third Point over losses at its Homes.com marketplace. Third Point liquidated its stake in April 2026, citing a changed thesis. CoStar reported Q1 net income of $3 million, up from a $15 million loss a year earlier, on adjusted EBITDA of $132 million.
