DoorDash to Pay $131.5M to Settle New York City Delivery Worker Underpayment Claims

DoorDash (DASH) agreed to pay $131.5 million to settle New York City claims that it underpaid or delayed payments to delivery workers, the company announced on Sept. 22, 2026. The settlement covers about 264,000 workers and includes more than $83 million to resolve a dispute over pay calculation for time Dashers spend online between deliveries, $12.3 million for missed or late payments, and $16.7 million in fines owed to the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. The company attributed the errors to technical bugs and complex delivery scenarios, including cross-city-limit orders and cancellations, and said it has fixed the underlying issues and strengthened compliance. Affected workers will be contacted in the coming weeks and will receive a minimum of $10 each. The settlement also addresses New York City's broader accusations that DoorDash and Uber Eats shortchanged workers by more than $550 million in tips.
