Walt Disney Co. (DIS) is eliminating hundreds of positions in its human resources and technology divisions, Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the matter. The move extends a series of workforce reductions at the entertainment giant. The cuts follow roughly 1,000 layoffs in April 2026 across marketing, studio and television operations, ESPN, products and technology, and corporate teams. Disney removed several hundred film, television marketing, publicity, casting and development roles in 2025. Disney employed about 231,000 people at the end of fiscal 2025, including approximately 172,000 in the U.S. and 59,000 abroad. Shares of Disney closed down 0.17% at $105.41 on the NYSE on Tuesday.
