Daimler Truck Defence Targets €1 Billion Revenue by 2028 as European Armies Scale Up Orders
Daimler Truck Defence, the newly consolidated military unit of Daimler Truck (ETR: DTG), is targeting €1 billion in defense revenue by 2028, betting that European armies' urgent need for military trucks favors a manufacturer sharing commercial-vehicle production lines. The unit was formed in June 2026 and plans a mid-three-digit million-euro investment, employing about 1,000 workers, primarily at the Wörth am Rhein plant in Germany. France's PL6T program anchors the order book, covering up to 7,000 Zetros-based trucks built with partner Arquus over more than 10 years. Canada's Logistics Vehicle Modernization program adds over 1,500 Zetros trucks, with General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada as prime contractor. Germany's Bundeswehr has ordered logistics vehicles in the hundreds. CEO Dennis Kinzelmann said shared civil-military content reaches "north of 70-80 percent" on platforms like the Arocs, enabling flexible volume scaling. Daimler Truck reported the figures in June 2026 announcements.
