Equinor (EQNR) Nominates Jarle Roth as Chairman Effective July 1, 2026

Equinor’s nomination committee recommended Jarle Roth succeed Jon Erik Reinhardsen as board chairman, effective July 1, 2026, pending approval at a June 8 corporate assembly meeting. The leadership transition at Norway’s state-controlled energy major follows Reinhardsen’s decision to step down after leading the board since 2017. Roth joined Equinor’s board in December 2025 and brings extensive industrial and financial governance experience, having served as chief executive of Eksportkreditt Norge, Arendals Fossekompani, and other firms. He previously chaired Equinor’s nomination committee and corporate assembly. The committee also recommended re-electing Anne Drinkwater as deputy chair and five other board members. If approved, Roth will serve through June 2027, guiding the company’s balance between oil and gas investments and low-carbon energy commitments.
