Edgewise (EWTX) Agrees to Sell Muscular Dystrophy Business, Sevasemten for Up to $2.65B
Edgewise Therapeutics (NASDAQ: EWTX) announced on June 1, 2026, it has agreed to sell its muscular dystrophy division and lead drug candidate sevasemten in a deal valued at up to $2.65 billion. The transaction includes an upfront payment and potential milestone payments. The sale divests Edgewise of its entire muscular dystrophy portfolio, including the experimental therapy sevasemten, which targets Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. The buyer was not disclosed. Edgewise said the deal allows it to concentrate on its advancing pipeline of cardiovascular treatments. Shares of Edgewise rose 8.5% in early trading following the news. The company expects the transaction to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
