FedEx Freight Holding (FDXF) to Replace American Airlines (AAL) in Dow Transport Average
S&P Dow Jones Indices said Wednesday that FedEx Freight Holding will replace American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) in the Dow Jones Transportation Average, effective before the start of trading on June 1, 2026. The change follows the recent spin-off of FedEx Freight from FedEx Corp., creating a standalone public company that now qualifies for the 20-stock industrial gauge. American Airlines is being removed as part of the index’s periodic rebalancing, which aims to reflect the current composition of the U.S. transportation sector. FedEx Freight Holding, trading under the ticker FDXF, operates one of the largest less-than-truckload fleets in North America. The DJTA, a benchmark since 1884, tracks airlines, railroads, trucking, and delivery firms.
