IBM shares jumped as much as 10% on Monday, hitting an all-time high and adding over $28 billion in market value, after a months-old video of President Donald Trump praising Chief Executive Arvind Krishna recirculated on social media. The clip, originally from a December 2025 White House event, gained traction over the weekend when accounts on X re-shared it, including a Polymarket Money post that garnered more than 700,000 views. Trading on Robinhood’s 24-hour market showed IBM climbing by Sunday night, before Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s comments further boosted software stocks. The rally reflects speculative fervor in AI-linked equities and Trump’s willingness to champion specific companies, which has previously moved shares of Intel and Dell. IBM had already surged nearly 40% in two weeks, aided by a $1 billion government award to build a quantum computing chip foundry. Strategists said momentum-based algorithms intensified the breakout after the stock breached a resistance level last week.
