Immuneering Corp. (IMRX) shares plunged 22% on June 2, 2026, even as the biotech reported encouraging Phase 2a results for its lead drug, atebimetinib, in advanced pancreatic cancer. The data showed a meaningful response rate and improved survival metrics, but investors appeared to have priced in more dramatic efficacy, triggering a sharp sell-off. In the trial, atebimetinib achieved an objective response rate of 23% and a median overall survival of 8.4 months in a heavily pretreated patient population. While these figures compare favorably to historical controls, some analysts noted the results fell short of the blockbuster potential needed to justify the company’s earlier valuation. The sell-off underscores the market’s high expectations for novel cancer therapies. Immuneering plans to discuss the data with the FDA and expects to initiate a pivotal trial by year-end.
