16 U.S. Trucking Firms File Bankruptcy in Under a Month as Costs Mount

At least 16 trucking, delivery and transportation companies filed for bankruptcy protection between late August and Sept. 21, 2026, amid rising diesel prices and elevated operating costs, according to federal court filings reviewed by FreightWaves. The filings include eight Chapter 11 cases: Globemaster Incorporated, Xoco Transport, Jett Transport & Materials, CLJ Transporting, Mill Creek Logistics-Illinois, RP Hay Hauling, Truckload LLC (Expedite Express) and Pacer Transport. Smaller carriers, including A&B Transportation, Eulogia Logistics and Rothchild Transportation, filed Chapter 7 liquidation cases. Xoco Transport, a Hidalgo, Texas-based carrier with more than 40 tractors and 65 drivers, filed Sept. 16. Globemaster, a Bolingbrook, Illinois long-haul operator with 51 power units, filed Sept. 15, reporting assets of $500,000 to $1 million against liabilities of $1 million to $10 million. Pacer Transport, based in Arnaudville, Louisiana, reported less than $50,000 in assets against up to $10 million in liabilities. The geographically widespread filings signal continued financial stress across general freight, last-mile, agricultural and specialized trucking segments.
