Electronics Manufacturers Report Heat-Related Supply Chain Disruptions in 2026

Nearly half of global electronics manufacturers reported heat-related supply chain disruptions in 2026, with supplier delivery delays cited as the most severe impact, according to a Global Electronics Association survey released Tuesday. The survey found 50% of manufacturers in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific experienced supplier fulfillment disruptions, while two-fifths globally reported some type of heat-related supply chain interruption. In North America, 6% cited major disruptions and 6% cited moderate interruptions, while 57% reported no impact. More than 80% of affected manufacturers worldwide reported negative impacts on productivity and operational throughput. Among North American firms experiencing disruptions, 13% reported major impacts and 50% reported moderate impacts. Looking ahead, more than two-thirds of manufacturers globally expect extreme heat-driven interruptions in coming years. Chief Economist Shawn DuBravac advised manufacturers to use the fall season to develop contingency playbooks for prolonged extreme heat scenarios.
