MeshVI Targets Trucking Insurance Fraud as Certificate Error Rates Hit 15%

MeshVI, a trucking insurance operations platform founded in 2019, is expanding a fraud-reporting tool to help retail insurance agencies verify vehicle- and driver-level coverage in real time as certificates of insurance errors reach 5% to 15% across the industry. Founder and CEO Andy Sharpe said motor carrier insurance costs have risen to three times or more their pre-Montgomery ruling levels, with one agency receiving 1,000 monitoring requests per week. MeshVI's product, Mesh Verified, flags "missing assets" — trucks operating without active policies — as non-admitted carriers adopt driver exclusions and scheduled-driver requirements. Sharpe cited cases of operators insuring one truck while running 75, and noted Illinois' assigned risk plan has drawn fraud reports. The platform is working with state programs to surface fraudulent filings and give brokers and shippers a live verified data feed.
