Kodiak Robotics named IKEA as its anchor shipper for driverless long-haul trucking, targeting a commercial debut before the end of 2025 on a Houston-to-Frisco, Texas, corridor the two have run daily with safety drivers for four years. Kodiak has logged nearly 4 million autonomous miles over more than seven years and must complete a multi-part "safety case" — spanning hardware fault analysis, simulation and track testing — before removing the driver, with no federal or state standard yet to benchmark against. Kodiak also integrated with PrePass, whose network covers more than 900,000 commercial vehicles, to relay pre-trip inspection data to roadside enforcement. Under CVSA's autonomous-vehicle standard, trucks must pass a near-annual-equivalent inspection every four days with zero defects permitted. The launch covers Texas and Louisiana, with neighboring freight corridors planned next.
