Astranis Secures $468M EXIM Loan to Expand Satellite Production
The U.S. Export-Import Bank approved a $468 million credit facility for Astranis to expand domestic satellite manufacturing, the bank said. The loan was approved during the week of September 21, 2026. The San Francisco-based private company operates five small geostationary satellites and holds a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts. Its customers include Oman, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Thailand. EXIM said the financing will grow Astranis' capacity to manufacture and operate satellites. The loan falls under the bank's Make More in America Initiative, which targets national security-related investments. Recent aerospace recipients include Beta Technologies and CesiumAstro. "In order to lead across the globe, America must lead in space," EXIM Chairman John Jovanovic told Axios.
