The Port of Oakland, Calif., handled 184,492 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in April 2026, with exports of 92,687 TEUs exceeding imports of 91,805 TEUs. Cargo activity stabilized even as vessel arrivals dropped to 80 from 86 in March. Loaded imports totaled 78,822 TEUs, while loaded exports came to 63,910 TEUs. Total volume slipped 0.5% from April 2025, when shippers frontloaded ahead of tariff deadlines. Year-to-date through April, volume declined 5.7% to 742,351 TEUs compared with the same period in 2025. Port officials said larger vessel exchanges and a diverse cargo mix helped sustain throughput. Maritime Director Bryan Brandes noted Oakland's gateway for agricultural exports cushions it against trans-Pacific trade volatility.
