Intel (INTC) CEO Lip-Bu Tan reaffirmed the chipmaker’s deepening partnership with Taiwan’s PC and semiconductor supply chain on June 2, 2026, at COMPUTEX, marking his first speech as chief executive. Tan said the 40-year alliance remains pivotal and that returning Intel to an engineering-driven culture is his top priority. Tan, who took the helm approximately 14 months ago, detailed a restructuring where all engineering teams now report directly to him. He emphasized execution over strategy, calling it the foundation of Intel's turnaround. Tan also recounted his personal history helping introduce venture capital to Taiwan four decades ago under former presidential adviser Kuo-Ting Li, which aided the rise of the "Silicon Island" ecosystem and its foundry leader TSMC. He noted customers and partners are seeing early signs of Intel's transformation but cautioned the journey is long. Intel shares were little changed following the remarks. The CEO, who speaks Chinese, said his cultural fluency strengthens ties with key Taiwanese clients.
