JPMorgan Chase's (JPM) executive chairman of global investment banking and M&A, Hernan Cristerna, will retire at the end of 2026, concluding a 30-year career at the firm, a company spokesperson confirmed. Global banking co-heads Filippo Gori and John Simmons announced the departure in a Thursday memo. Cristerna became global chair in 2020, having co-led the firm's global M&A business from 2013. He also served on JPMorgan's investment banking executive committee. During his tenure, Cristerna advised on InBev's 2008 takeover of Anheuser-Busch, Saudi Aramco's 2019 acquisition of SABIC, and Bunge's 2023 combination with Viterra. The retirement follows that of Chief Data and Analytics Officer Teresa Heitsenrether, who will also leave at the end of 2026. JPMorgan reported $2.88 billion in first-quarter 2026 investment banking fees, up 28% year over year, ranking first globally.
