Kodiak, PrePass Link Driverless Trucks to Weigh Station Bypass in Texas, Louisiana

PrePass and Kodiak AI announced Monday a collaboration routing safety inspection records from Kodiak's autonomous trucks into state roadside screening systems, with implementation beginning the same day in Texas and Louisiana. Bypass decisions remain with state enforcement personnel, who verify inspection data through the PrePass platform commercial fleets already use for weigh station bypass and toll payment. The records come from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Program. A CVSA-trained inspector verifies an autonomous truck is free of safety defects before driverless operation, with clearance valid up to 24 hours. Kodiak (Nasdaq: KDK) is preparing to launch driverless commercial operations on public highways by the end of 2026, the target it described in May alongside first-quarter results. The company went public via a de-SPAC merger with Ares Acquisition Corp. II in 2025. PrePass's bypass network spans 581 sites across North America.
