LG Electronics will invest a combined KRW 150 billion to build a new air-cooled chiller plant in Windsor, Virginia, and expand manufacturing at its Pyeongtaek and Changwon facilities in South Korea, the company said, targeting growing demand for AI data center cooling equipment. The Virginia facility will occupy a 170,000-square-meter site with approximately 30,000 square meters of manufacturing space. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, giving LG a domestic base to serve North American hyperscale data center operators. LG said it joined the Nvidia Partner Network as a preferred partner for power and cooling solutions in late September. Its 2.6-megawatt coolant distribution unit qualified under Nvidia's DSX AI Factory infrastructure program. Citing Omdia estimates, LG said global data center capacity will rise from 226 gigawatts in 2026 to 420 GW by 2030, with North America accounting for roughly 60% of the additional capacity.
