Eli Lilly Begins Construction on $6.5 Billion Houston API Manufacturing Plant

Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) said on Sept. 22, 2026, that it has broken ground on a $6.5 billion manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, expanding its domestic production capacity for active pharmaceutical ingredients. The plant will produce APIs for Foundayo and other small-molecule medicines and advanced therapeutics, the company said.
