Argentina to Open South America's First Citizenship-by-Investment Program in Q4 2026
Argentina will launch South America's first citizenship-by-investment program in the fourth quarter of 2026, Economy Minister Luis Caputo announced in Paris. The program, designed to attract foreign capital to the debt-saddled country, offers two routes: a non-refundable $350,000 contribution for a single applicant, or an $800,000 investment in a government security created for the program. A family of four would pay $500,000 under the first option. The government provided no maturity, yield, or repayment terms for the bond. Applications will be assessed by the Agency for Citizenship by Investment Programs alongside the State Intelligence Secretariat, the Financial Information Unit, and the Ministry of Security, covering identity, source of funds, criminal records, and immigration history. The National Directorate of Migration makes final decisions. Nuri Katz, founder of advisory firm Apex Capital Partners, predicted the program would become a status symbol for wealthy Americans. "Really wealthy Americans will be embarrassed if they do not have an Argentina passport," he said.
