Portugal One-Bedroom Rents Hit €1,128, Topping Minimum Wage by €200

Rents in Portugal resumed climbing in August 2026 after declining in the first half of the year, with the median one-bedroom flat now costing €1,128 per month — more than €200 above the national minimum wage, according to property portal idealista. The figure, covering April to June 2026, is 123% higher than the median rent for a single room at €505 per month. Studios median €908 monthly, 80% above a room but 20% below a one-bedroom flat. Lisbon district remains the most expensive at €1,354 per month, followed by Madeira (€1,295), Faro (€1,171), Porto (€983) and Setúbal (€981). Guarda is cheapest at €456. In district capitals, Lisbon city leads at €1,409, while Guarda offers the lowest at €438. Madeira rooms (€565) outprice Lisbon district rooms (€551). The report compares median asking prices on idealista and includes only markets with representative samples.
